GRUBY’S NEW YORK DELI

Originally from the Bronx, the Gruber family moved to the Lowcountry in the 1980s and quickly realized how much they missed the authentic flavors of a traditional New York deli. Coming from a long line of butchers, the brothers decided to recreate that experience by opening their own deli, one that captured the comfort, flavor, and personality of the delis they grew up with.

Driven by nostalgia and family tradition, Steve and Barry set out to serve the kind of food that reminded them of home. Their goal was simple: share their favorite New York classics with a Southern community that had never tasted anything quite like it. What started as a local spot soon became a Hilton Head staple, known for its and welcoming, family-style atmosphere.

For National Deli Month, the Hilton Head Island Gruby’s will donate 10% of every Twin Towers sandwich to Second Helpings, an organization that fights hunger and food insecurity in the Lowcountry, South Carolina. The Twin Towers, one of Gruby’s most popular sandwiches, is made with hot corned beef and hot pastrami on rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing.
